CRANE COUNTY/ECTOR COUNTY-- Crews from Crane County and West Odessa were called out to a grass fire Monday morning.

The blaze happened along C-Bar Ranch Road off of Ranch Road 1601. Firefighters from Crane came out to deal with it, and they were joined by the West Odessa Volunteer Fire Department.

Three heater treaters caught fire, igniting nearby brush and sparking the blaze. Before it was over, about 7 to 10 acres were burned. Only one person was injured.

"Crane [Fire Department] had a firefighter that got heat exhaustion and he was transported to Medical Center [Hospital]," West Odessa Volunteer firefighter Bucky Lipsy told Big 2.

It took about 4 hours for crews to get the fire out. Firefighters aren't sure what ignited the heater treaters, but the owner will look through the equipment trying to determine what went wrong.
