ANDREWS -- A group called Promote Andrews plans to file a lawsuit against the Texas Low Level Radioactive Wast Disposal Compact Commission over a proposal to expand dumping of radioactive waste in Andrews County. Now, the group has filed a restraining order against the commission, to keep them from voting on that plan.

That vote was scheduled for January 4th, but it could be held up.

The commission recently had a public comment period, where people could send their comments on the proposed plan to an e-mail address. But Promote Andrews says that account was never even set up and no one on the commission read any of those comments.

As it stands now, only Texas and Vermont can send waste to the site. If the vote passes, 36 other states would be able to send their radioactive waste to the site.
