Its that time again, when Odessa becomes inundated with cowboys, cowgirls, and a lot of livestock. Its the Sandhills Stockshow and rodeo.

Brooke Turner, media coordinator for the rodeo, has been working for months planning the annual show. And now its finally time to watch all the hard work fall in to place.

"Close to 200 volunteers, coming in and out. and these people have full time jobs and are putting out the effort to get this thing rolling. " Said Brooke Turner, Media Coordinator.

Its took 200 volunteers to turn this ice hockey rink into a rodeo arena.

"We started taking out the ice Saturday night put in the dirt and have been working 24 hours a day ever since." Said Brooke Turner.

And its not just the inside being transformed. Cars have filled the parking lot of the Collesium, and it looks like some men have set up shop and started bar be queing! Its amazing to think, that such a big rodeo goes down in our back yards.

"This is one the first big ones of 2011 so all the big name cowboys and cowgirls are gonna be here because they can get a big paycheck today. More than likely if they win this, they will win worlds. " Said Back flip Johnny, Rodeo Entertainer.

Cowboys, cowgirls and all the fans have shown up to this rodeo for 78 years. For the next week, the seats in this arena will be filled. For some, it won't be there first Rodeo.

" I love the rodeo. I love the people in it. Its a great place to be." Said Eldon Day, Steer Wrestler since 1971.
