ODESSA -- Last fall, Odessa College had a bond issue on the ballot, asking for money to fund the construction of new buildings and renovations. It was money the school said they desperately needed, and the friends of Odessa College helped raise money to promote that bond election.

In November, the bond passed by a healthy margin, but Friends of Odessa College discovered they still had money left over from their promotional campaign.

"Everyone was in unanimous agreement to give that money for Odessa College, to use for scholarships," Friends of Odessa College member Lorraine Perryman told Big 2. "So that more students can enjoy these wonderful new buildings."

There was close to $11,500 in unspent money that will now go towards scholarships. Eligibility criteria are being set up for the scholarships.
