ODESSA -- Ector County commissioners decided not to close a controversial railroad crossing near Jaguars Gold Club Monday.

The commissioners voted to keep the Cargo Road railroad crossing open Monday morning, but they said they would talk to Pacific Union about restricting use of the crossing.

Pacific Union had requested the county close the crossing. The railroad company said the crossing is too dangerous, and that several deadly car accidents have happened there. But local business owners in the area have argued that they need the crossing to remain open for their businesses to stay afloat.
