MIDLAND -- The Permian Basin is still in shock after hearing about the death of Houston Copeland.

The West Texas icon died of a heart attack Sunday morning. Copeland was 81 years old.

Back when Copeland was with State Farm insurance, he wrote more policies than any other State Farm agent in the United States and Canada.  He also featured his grandchildren in ads that became very well-known locally.

Big 2 had a chance to speak with his wife Lisa, who tells us his death is a great loss to Odessa.

If you'd like to pay your respects, a visitation will take place beginning at 6:00 PM on Wednesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Copeland's funeral service will take place on Thursday at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Odessa.
