Regis Philbin plans to step down from hosting his long-running daytime television show.

Philbin broke the news this morning on Live! with Regis and Kelly, calling his 28-year run on the program "the biggest thrill of my life."

The 79-year-old show business veteran joked about his age and said his final show will be some time late this summer or in the fall.

Philbin has logged more camera time than anyone in history, according to the Guiness Book of World Records.
