ODESSA -- A Hobbs man is facing charges in Ector County, after he was accused of kidnapping his estranged wife.

Anthony Lynn Evans is facing felony aggravated kidnapping charges for the alleged October incident. According to an arrest affidavit, Evans, 49, took his estranged wife Claudia and their children to dinner on October 21st. He then reportedly convinced Claudia to get in his car, so that he could show her some papers.  Once she got in the vehicle, though, police say Evans closed the door and took off, threatening to kill her.

Claudia Evans said she flagged down a police cruiser, and the officer in that car tried to pull Evans over, but he got away. Evans later dropped his wife off.

Evans was arrested last week in Hobbs after he was pulled over for a traffic violation and an officer saw his Texas arrest warrant. He was transferred to Ector County on Thursday, and he's being held on $50,000 bond.
