By the end of 2009, Leach was famous in college football circles for another reason, as he was fired by Tech following allegations that he abused a player. Leach sued the school for breach of contract in 2010. On Friday an appeals court threw out the case.
The 7th Court of Appeals upheld Texas Tech's sovereign immunity claim, which protected the school in the case. This means that Leach can't be awarded any money from the school in court. However, Leach can still try and show that the school's reasons for firing him were wrong.
Leach's attorney plans on appealing to the Texas Supreme Court.
