The Biggest Loser, West Texas style officially kicked off this weekend.

Hundreds of eager participants weighed in this Saturday, at the Alpha Cheer Building, with hopes of shedding those unwanted pounds. The competition is free, and in just 12 weeks the biggest loser will be crowned and take home a $500 cash prize.

"We're living in a time where we got the most unhealthy people we've ever had, heart disease is a number one killer of Americans, so I just think it's a great way to give back to the community," Cory Aguilar, of Iron Training.

Aguilar says he wants to educate people on what it means to lead a healthy lifestyle. There is still time to register for the biggest loser West Texas competition throughout the week
