Authorities in Hobbs say the gas pressure went out because a compressor malfunctioned. This meant that many residents lost gas pressure in their homes and pilot lights went out.
Hobbs Police stress that residents should not try and re-start the pilot lights or light furnaces manually. Instead, call Zia Gas at 575-392-4277 to get your pilot light re-lit.
If you've lost your pilot light, and lost heat, you can contact the Emergency Information Center at 575-393-4332, 575-397-7672 or 575-397-7679. Do not call 911 or emergency numbers.
