SCURRY COUNTY -- A mother and her pregnant daughter lost their lives in a tragic boating accident this weekend.

A Martin County family was out on a boat on Lake J.B. Thomas on Saturday. They were checking on a trout line around 5:00 PM Saturday when a wave knocked over their boat. A man, his wife, his father and step-mother fell into the ice-cold waters. Game wardens say the boat proceeded to get caught in the trout line and capsized around 300 feet from shore.

The two women did not survive the incident. One body was recovered Saturday night, and the other was found the following day. Both men were treated for hypothermia and survived.
