John Paul Hernandez used to be the principal at the state school in Pyote, which housed troubled youths. He's accused of molesting about a dozen boys at that school. The alleged abuse happened years ago, and it took years before the Texas Rangers launched an investigation into what happened. Then, after the charges were filed, more years passed before the two people accused went to court.
Last spring, Ray Brookins, the Assistant Superintendent of the school, was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Jury selection began Monday, and the Hernandez trial should continue all week.
