MIDLAND COUNTY -- An oil rig worker is dead -- and another is badly injured -- after an industrial accident in Midland County.

The accident happened Monday afternoon near the intersection of  F.M. 1788 and TX 158. Midland County Fire Marshal Dale Little tells Big 2 that two men were working on a drilling rig operated by Helmerich and Payne when the incident occurred. The two workers were unloading some pipe off a pipe rack, when a pipe slipped, flew off and trapped them.

One of the victims was killed after the pipe crushed his chest. The other victim had one of his legs crushed by the pipe. That man is being treated at Midland Memorial Hospital.

The names of the victims have not yet been released.
