The Odessa College Board of Trustees has decided to sell their broadcast license to Marfa Public Radio. That group was able to beat out operators from San Antonio and Lubbock, since they also agreed to move the station's tower off campus. That move will save Odessa College more than $10,000.
Marfa Public Radio will also pay O.C. $300,000 in cash and scholarships. They plan to build a new tower north of Odessa, providing N.P.R. from Andrews to Crane, including Midland and Odessa.
It should take about 6 months for the deal to be finalized.
