ODESSA -- A trial for a 1991 Odessa murder has been pushed back, after the defendant switched attorneys.

Leroy Flores Alaniz had his trial date pushed back at a pre-trial hearing Thursday. Alaniz, 52, is accused of beating Larry Alan Willsey to death at the party house lounge in October 1991.

The case went cold for more than 18 years, but detectives were able to use DNA evidence to link Alaniz to the murder last year. Alaniz was arrested in September and charged with capital murder.

Alaniz is being held on $500,000 bond. No trial date has been set.
