AUSTIN -- A Texas senator has filed a bill that could bring the water war that's been going on in Fort Stockton to end. And for Fort Stockton Holdings, it would not be a good ending.

Senator Kel Seliger filed Senate Bill 756, which would prohibit anyone from transporting ground or surface water more than 75 miles from it's source. This bill would have an impact on the ongoing Fort Stockton water battle.

The city of Fort Stockton has been battling oilman Clayton Williams for months. Williams -- who's in charge of Fort Stockton Holdings -- wants to transport his water to Midland, while the city wants it to stay where it is.

If Senate Bill 756 passes, transporting the water all the way to Midland would no longer be an option.
