ODESSA -- Two Odessans who were arrested after a fatal shooting last Friday are now facing additional charges.

Tonya Lynn Whitehead, 34, and David Allen Whitehead, 40, are facing three counts of copper wire theft each. According to Odessa Police, the Whiteheads were with 53-year-old Rodney Alan Burns early on February 18th, when the three tried to break into a vehicle on 23rd and Muskingum. When the owner of that vehicle saw what was going on, he fired shots at the suspects -- one of which hit burns.

The three suspects fled the scene, but Burns passed away a little later. The Whiteheads were arrested later that day for stealing copper wire.

Meanwhile, the homeowner who shot Burns has not been charged. Ector County District Attorney Bobby Bland tells Big 2 that he's waiting to get the incident report from Odessa Police.
