BREWSTER COUNTY -- A fire continued to rage in Brewster County Wednesday.

The 101 Ranch Fire initially broke out Tuesday afternoon. At last check, the fire had burned 1200 acres south of Alpine, but the blaze was 45 percent contained.

Local fire crews called in a heavy air tanker from Abilene Tuesday night to fight the fire from above. That tanker has now been released. Helicopters have also showed up in the area to help fight the blaze, but they had to leave as night fell.

There aren't many structures near the fire. There is a subdivision in the general area, and crews are trying to keep the blaze from spreading there.
