AUSTIN -- A controversial sonogram bill has made it's way through the Texas House.

Despite some procedural snags earlier this week, the Texas House passed their version of the bill Thursday night. The bill would require women to get a sonogram at least 24 hours before they can have an abortion. The House version of the bill also requires that doctors play the fetal heartbeat, and give the woman a detailed description of the fetus, whether she wants it or not.

Supporters say the bill better informs women, while opponents say it sets up a barrier to abortion. Now, the House bill must be reconciled with the Senate version before a final vote.
