MIDLAND -- A Midland man is facing charges, after he was accused of injuring another man in a drunk driving accident.

Martin Ruben Perez was arrested Wednesday. According to an arrest affidavit, Perez, 24, was driving on Big Spring Street. early Wednesday morning when he rolled over his white Ford Mustang near Rockin' Rodeo. Perez was injured in the accident, but he was able to get out of the vehicle.

A passenger in the Mustang -- Raul Gomez -- was trapped in the vehicle when police arrived.  Gomez's hand had gone through the moonroof, and the overturned car crushed it to the pavement.

Gomez -- who was celebrating his 23rd birthday -- was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital for the serious hand injury. Perez was also taken to the hospital, and police say blood tests showed that he had drugs and alcohol in his system. Perez was arrested at the hospital.
