PECOS COUNTY -- The Texas Forest Service is working a large wildfire in Pecos County.

The Forest Service is sending crews to help with the Pinon Fire, which has claimed more than 2,000 acres near the Longfellow Ranch off U.S. 385. The fire is torching rough terrain about 28 miles south of Fort Stockton.

Two 20-person hand crews, three bulldozers and three engines are fighting the blaze from the ground. Meanwhile, two air attacks, a heavy air tanker, two Single Engine Air Tankers and a heavy heli-tanker are helping to try and contain that fire from the air.

No structures are threatened by the fire.
