Man Arrested For Walking Around Midland With A Child While Drunk

MIDLAND -- A Sweetwater man is facing child endangerment charges in Midland, after police found him walking across the Tall City intoxicated with a small child.
Brett Owen Smith, 42, was arrested on Sunday morning, after police found him walking with a young girl on Andrews Highway near Midkiff. According to an arrest affidavit, Smith was walking with a small child, who was underdressed and shaking.
Smith told police that he was walking to Odessa, but he was so disoriented he did not know where he truly was. Police later found out that Smith had been walking from his girlfriend's house on Fairgrounds with the child in the chilly temperatures.
Now, Smith is facing child endangerment charges.
