MIDLAND COUNTY -- A car crash sparked a small grass fire northwest of Midland Wednesday afternoon.

The incident happened around 4:15 PM Wednesday at the intersection of County Road 60 and TX 158 in Midland County. A Camaro was heading northbound on TX 158 when a minivan on County Road 60 ran the stop sign at the intersection. The Camaro swerved to avoid hitting the van, but the car ended up skidding into a bar ditch near the road.

When the Camaro hit the ditch, the vehicle's brakes locked up. The Camaro slid into a telephone pole. The impact snapped the base of the pole and pushed it about 5 feet. A wire then fell to the ground and ignited a grass fire when it hit the brittle grass.

The fire was contained quickly. No one was badly hurt.
