MIDLAND -- As the dry weather conditions continue, the City of Midland will soon begin implementing a plan to help save water.

Starting in April, the Tall City will restrict outdoor watering to three times a week. Residents will also only be allowed to water between 6 PM and 10 AM the next day.

Residents with addresses ending in even numbers will be allowed to water their lawn on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Those with addresses ending in odd numbers will be allowed to water on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

"There's only so much water," Midland Utilities Director Stuart Purvis told Big 2. "The district has responsibility for all the cities. So if the City of Midland chooses not to participate, not to meet our goals, we could be turned off."

The new schedule goes into effect April 1st and will continue through October. Odessa, Big Spring, Snyder and Stanton will also be participating. The goal is to cut water usage by 10 percent across the area.
