Escapee Wants His Story Heard

ODESSA -- Two-time escapee Robert Steven Dudley wants the public to know his story.
In a letter he wrote to The Odessa American, Dudley says he fears for his safety and well being. Dudley says he brought more heat on the staff because of his escape and he's afraid of retaliation after he made the sheriff and his staff look dumb. But Ector County Sheriff Mark Donaldson says he brought this on himself.
"You're gonna be watched a lot closer," said Donaldson. "You're not going to get some things that the other one's do. If you don't follow the rules then things don't go the way you want them to -- and that's the way it's gonna be."
Granted, Dudley was the one who broke the law. But he also mentioned how Eddie Palma, the inmate whose escape was foiled on Sunday, was placed in a padded cell -- naked -- for two days. This news doesn't surprise Joseph Armendariez, whose brother is locked up in the jail.
"He's not receiving his medicine appropriately over there," said Armendariez. "He's asked for it numerous times and they refused to give it to him and that's prescribed medicine."
When asked what changes need to be made, the sheriff had a hard time coming up with an answer.
Changes or not, something needs to be done if escaping from the facility is as easy as Dudley says it is.
