ODESSA -- A prisoner who escaped from the Ector County Courthouse on Wednesday is behind bars, and he'll have to pay a hefty sum to be free again.

Ryan Drod Thompson is being held on $60,000 bond. Thompson, 22, was being arrested and processed on several warrants on Wednesday morning at the courthouse when he took off, escaping through the west side of the building. He was still handcuffed and lost a shoe while running, but authorities didn't find him until the next day.

Thompson was arrested in a parking lot near South Grandview and Interstate 20 around 6 PM Thursday. He had removed his handcuffs and had shoes on both feet at that time.

Now, Thompson's facing charges for escape, along with his original charges.
