UTPB Closed for Police Training

By: Jamie Kuras
Updated: March 13, 2011
ODESSA -- UTPB's campus was closed today to the public. No, not because of spring break. Because of police training.

Officer's from UTPB, ECISD, DPS, Odessa College and the Odessa Fire Department took place in an active shooter training.

This training acts as if there was a shooter on campus. Officers need to determine who is and is not a suspect.

They also want to be able to see how well these officers communicate with each other and the public.

This is the first time that the training was able to use an entire campus. Previous trainings were held in office buildings or schools.
