MIDLAND -- A huge operation is needed to help those who survived the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

The American Red Cross just announced they will initially donate $10 million to the Japanese Red Cross Society. The Salvation Army has already received $1.7 million in donations.

But they still need more help.

Thousands are still without shelter, food, water and supplies. The Japanese Red Cross says they have more then 2 million people helping with relief efforts, but they still could use your help with monetary donations.

Liberty Tax of Midland are doing their part in the relief efforts. This Saturday, they will offer free tax preparation with a donation of $50 or more to the American Red Cross. It's going on from 9 AM - 5 PM at all three of their Midland locations.

"We do a considerable amount of community oriented marketing throughout the year," said Liberty Tax of Midland owner John Wojtkun. "And we try to partner with as many non-profits and causes we can simply cause during tax season, the focus is on us. We have people going through our offices. We can provide assistance to a lot of these non-profit agencies such as red cross."

Meanwhile, the Salvation Army has 3 emergency relief teams operating in impacted areas. They're also in need of monetary donations.

To donate to the American Red Cross, go to www.redcross.org for numbers and addresses. You can also text "REDCROSS" to 90999 to make a $10 donation.

To donate to Salvation Army text "JAPAN" or "QUAKE" to 80888 to make $10 donate. Or go to their website at https://donate.salvationarmyusa.org to donate online or get a phone number.
