"We [put up the signs] to try and build curiosity and generate a lot of anticipation around the campaign," Nathan Riojas of the Palmer Drug Abuse Program told Big 2. "So hopefully we'd have everybody's attention for our final message."
That final message? 84 percent of Midland's youth choose to be tobacco-free.
Midland's Palmer Drug Abuse Program started the "Leon Neon" campaign in February. It all led up to Texas Tobacco Free Kids Day on Wednesday.
Since the majority of Midland kids and teens are choosing to be tobacco-free, the Palmer Drug Abuse Program held a celebration at Double Dave's PizzaWorks on Wednesday. The celebration included video games, a D.J., the Midland Rockhounds and West Texas United Soccers, and lots of pizza.
