MIDLAND -- A caretaker has been arrested, after Midland Police accused her of stealing thousands of dollars from the family she cared for.

Diane Edwards, 45, was arrested on Monday. According to an arrest affidavit, Edwards used the credit cards belonging to her 72-year-old ward and that ward's husband, who suffers from alzheimer's disease. Over time, Edwards allegedly racked up close to $5,000 in charges.

Police also say there is surveillance video of Edwards using the card to buy a camera at Wal-Mart.

Edwards is facing credit card abuse charges. She faces 10 years behind bars if convicted.
