MIDLAND --  A trial has begun in Midland against a Big Spring man accused of driving around town with a rape kit in his vehicle.

Juan Jose Guerra, 49, is accused of slowly driving by a church in Midland with a metal pipe, rope, zipcuffs and a homemade gag in his vehicle. The incident allegedly happened in May. At the time, kids were reportedly playing outside that church.

Guerra was charged with four counts of possession of a criminal instrument with intent to commit aggravated sexual assault. Jury selection was Monday, and the first witnesses were called Tuesday morning.
