WEST TEXAS -- Midland, Odessa, Big Spring, Stanton, and Snyder will restrict outdoor water usage to only three days a week starting Friday.

These restrictions are in place because the Colorado River Municipal Water District's lakes are low-- and this will continue until they think they have enough to meet each cities needs.

Houses with addresses ending in an odd number are allowed to water on Wednesday's, Friday's and Sundays. Even numbered houses are allowed to water on Tuesday's, Thursday's and Saturdays.

Here's another important note. You have to water overnight. Starting at 6pm on your day through 10am the following day.

People who are exempt from the water restrictions include anyone who has a water well and those who re-use water, such as parks and golf courses. However, the city still asks them to be courteous and follow the restrictions as well.

And if you think you can get away with watering on a day your not supposed to, you could face a fine.

"This is punishable by a fine not to exceed $2,000," said City of Odessa Public Information Coordinator Andrea Goodson. "It will be a class C misdemeanor. The city anticipates the community to be very responsive and comply without enforcement."

Now, as always, the city will work with you if you have a need to water every day. This includes those who have more than 2 acres of land. Just call the city that you live in and tell them your situation and they'll be sure to help out any way they can.
