PECOS --  An embattled former Pecos City Manager was being investigated by the Texas Rangers in the months leading up to his death.

Joseph Torres died last Wednesday, a day after he was indicted on indecency with a child charges. Autopsy results show that Torres took his own life.

The Pecos District Attorney's office tells Big 2 that the Pecos Police Department found out about the indecency charges back in July 2010. Police called in the Rangers to investigate, since Torres was a city official. Eventually, the investigation ended up before a Grand Jury, and the indictment came down last Tuesday.

The alleged incident Torres was indicted for happened in July 2001. The Pecos D.A.'s office says they won't release any more details about the indictment, since it's part of an ongoing investigation.

Meanwhile, Pecos Police Chief Clay McKinney is filling in as city manager.
