MIDLAND COUNTY -- Crews battled a grass fire near the airport Wednesday. Twice.

The fire first broke out a mile south of F.M. 1788 and TX 191 just before 1 PM Wednesday. It burned 50 acres before five fire units were able to get the blaze under control. Then, it reignited around 4:15 PM. Crews were able to get the flames under control again soon after that.

Firefighters say a pump jack and cattle were in danger initially. No structures were damaged and no injuries were reported at the time the fire was first contained.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
