BAKERSFIELD -- While the winds picked up Sunday night across the Permian Basin as a cold front passed through, other parts of West Texas were hit with rain and lightning.

That lightning caused big problems in some areas, as it lit grass on fire when it hit that ground. Six fires flared up in Pecos and Terrell counties Sunday night because of lightning. Crews came down from Crane, McCamey, Big Lake and Rankin to fight those fires.

Crews are still fighting at least two fires on ranches southeast of Bakersfield along R.M. 2886.

Luckily, no structures have been lost and no one was evacuated.
