ANDREWS COUNTY -- The Frying Pan Ranch fire in Andrews County has now burned anywhere from 90,000 - 100,000 acres.
It got pretty close to the city of Andrews Thursday. But now it's changed directions. It's about 25 miles southwest of Andrews and doesn't appear to be headed towards any rural area.
The fire is about 50%contained. Now remember, contained doesn't mean the fire is out. It means fire crews have a perimeter around enough of the fire where it shouldn't be able to spread any further.
Multiple fire crews are actively fighting the fire with heavy equipment instead of just letting it burn out.
No structures have been damaged yet.
Now when I was out there, I saw smoke in many different areas.
The sheriff's department told me this is from a number of flare ups from the hot spots.
Not a new fire sparking up.
State Highway 128 remains the only road closed as of 6:15pm Friday.
