MIDLAND -- 42 homes were burned to ashes in the Hickman fire, and Midland County officials want those affected to report their damages.

Midland County has issued a Disaster Declaration and asked Governor Rick Perry for help. People who are covered by insurance should call their insurance company to file their claims.

The county also says it's a good idea to take as many pictures of the damage as possible.
