ODESSA -- Odessa Police have arrested a man who they say hit an 8-year-old with his car and then fled the scene.

The crash happened Wednesday night. Police say the boy was riding his bicycle in the 3000 block of Bonham in Odessa when he was hit by a Ford Mustang. The driver didn't check on the boy, who was hurt. Instead, he just left the scene.

The victim was taken to Medical Center Hospital for his injuries, which weren't life-threatening.

The driver of the Mustang eventually returned to the scene, and police arrested him there. Now, 17-year-old Ermesto Garcia is charged with failure to stop and render aid, failure to show police a drivers license and D.W.I.
