MIDLAND -- A Midland man is furious -- after his emu were repeatedly and brutally attacked in his yard.

The man says the first attack happened last week. Someone beat one of the large birds with metal, then shot it three times and left it to die. Just after the owner cleaned that up, another attack left another bird dead.

"Someone came in here, and took logs, and beat this other poor emu," the owner said. "It has a compound fracture in its left, crushing its skull, blood all over the place. I just don't understand."

The man says he's worried the attacks could be gang related, since there has been a large increase in graffiti near his land. He has filed a police report, and is also looking at offering a reward to anyone who has information on the people who killed these emu.
