The Jackson Fire was burning north of Artesia near U.S. 285. That blaze burned 30 acres two structures in that area. It was completely contained by Tuesday night.
The Fulfer fire was 1 mile south of Jal near NM 18. That blaze burned about 2,000 acres, and the highway had to be shut down for several hours because of the fire danger. That blaze got within a mile of the Texas line.
The Doom Fire was also near Jal -- about 8 miles north of the town. This was the biggest of the fires, burning about 200 acres. This fire was rapidly moving towards Texas, and it stretched about two miles in length.
The Doom and Fulfer Fires were still uncontained as of Tuesday night.
