Tips To Avoid Becoming An Arson Victim

This week is National Arson Awareness Week, and the Odessa Fire Department is speaking out about the dangers of Arson. More than 350 firefighters die fighting fires that are set on purpose nationwide every year, and those fire cause more than a billion dollars in damage every year. There are some ways to protect yourself from arson.
-Keep leaves, brush and firewood away from buildings.
-Lock doors and windows and board up abandoned buildings.
-Store liquids that could catch fire like gasoline or paint in a secure, locked place.
-Report suspicious activity to local police and fire units.
-Be prepared for a fire.
