Great Outdoors Expo in Town This Weekend

MIDLAND -- The second annual Great Outdoors Expo is in town this weekend at the Midland County Horseshoe Area. 

Doors open Friday 3:00-8:00pm; Saturday 10:00am-7:00pm; and Sunday, 11:00am-5:00pm.

The community event includes seminars, workshops, exhibits, vendors, games, demonstrations and information on all things related to the great outdoors.

The expo focuses on hunting, fishing, camping, backpacking, RVs, ATVs, archery, photography and other outdoor activities. A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Midland Rape Crisis and Children Advocacy Center.

Regional community organizations participating in the 3-day event include Texas Parks and Wildlife, Texas Forest Service, the Lone Star Bow Hunters Association, National Rifle Association, March of Dimes, Operation Game Thief, Operation Orphans, the Boy Scouts and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Recognized outdoors experts will present open seminars including Dr. Dale Rollins, Professor and Extension Wildlife Specialist, Texas AgriLife Extension Service; Frank Addington, Jr., renowned archery master known as "The Aspirin Buster"; C.J. Winand, author and wildlife biologist; Rich LaRocco, writer, editor and international outfitter; Jess Rankin, hunting services expert; Brian Doty from the television series Extreme Outdoor Adventures; and a special photography and video presentation by Best Buy.

125 vendor booths will display a wide variety of products including outfitters and guides, custom knives and guns, bows, hunting and fishing accessories, blinds and feeders, video games, apparel, jewelry, optics, books, food, cookware, home décor, RVs and ATVs, boats, kayaks and more.

Door prizes will be awarded throughout the day for all three days and giveaways will be offered at participating exhibit booths.
