MIDLAND -- This Memorial Day the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) is hosting a celebration honoring those who fought for our freedom.
This free event will be held at the CAF at 9600 Wright Drive at Midland International Airport.
The annual Memorial Day Celebration will include a flag ceremony, guest speaker Congressman Mike Conaway, the induction of eight of the Texas Medal of Honor recipients and music by the OHS Jazz Ensemble.
Attendees can also enjoy a flyover by CAF aircraft.
Lunch can be purchased in the Commemorative Center hangar from 12 p.m. to 1:30p.m. for $10 per plate. Each lunch plate purchased automatically enters you to win a free ride in a warbird courtesy of the CAF High Sky Wing.
Warbird rides will be available for purchase in some of the CAF Warbirds. Rides are limited and subject to weather.
Following the ceremonies, people can enjoy face painting with Greenie the Clown and balloon fun with Harlan the Balloon Guy. Adults and children alike can climb inside authentic warbirds and get an idea of what the men and women of our American Military may have felt as they flew missions to protect our freedom.
Also on display at the CAF, will be a Chaparral race car from the Petroleum Museum's Chaparral Gallery.
Other fun, family entertainment includes World War II re-enactors and the chance to have your picture taken in authentic military uniforms.
