A weak low pressure centered over New Mexico could quickly turn into West Texas' new best friend over the course of an afternoon. The low will provide just enough instability in the atmosphere for scattered storms to spark today. Before any of this, get ready for a hot and steamy first half of the day under mostly sunny skies. Temps will be in the middle 90's by noon followed by clouds building. this will keep temps under heat warning criteria, highs today will be near 101. Closer to 3pm storms will start  to spark across the upper elevations to the west and by 5pm look for scattered storms across the Permian Basin. Not everyone will get rain but clouds will  help give some relief from the sunshine. Storms will carry into tonight before clearing out by Friday morning.

This weekend will be much nicer as the triple digit heat loosens its grip on the Basin, this weekend will be full of highs in the upper 90's for a change. Don't worry though, the triple digit heat returns early next work week!
