True freshman Ronnie Daniels is doing everything he can to play during his first year. The running back led his team with 43 yards rushing on Saturday, but also spent some time playing receiver. That versatility could allow Daniels to make an early impact on the Red Raider offense.
"He's a tall guy, he can run, and he has speed," said head coach Tommy Tuberville. "It's not that he won't play running back, it's just that we're trying to find a way."
"I'm trying just because it's hard to stop someone more versatile when they're playing two positions rather than one," said Daniels.
There was some bad news from Monday's workout. Starting center Justin Cowan sprained his left knee and will miss four to six weeks. Cowan started all 13 games for the Red Raiders in 2010.
