Horace Brown

Born and raised in Midland, Horace started his broadcasting career in 1984 as an art director for KMID-TV.  In 1990, he became the stations first morning weather forecaster.  Horace later added evening reporter and public speaker to his resume. He attended Midland College on a basketball and art scholarship and studied meteorology at Mississippi State University.

Horace was once voted by the Midland Reporter Telegram readers as the area's Favorite Weathercaster and his weathercast was honored twice by the Associated Press as one of the best in Texas.

Horace grew up watching the fast changing, tough-to-predict West Texas weather.  It was during those years that he not only developed a fascination with but a respect for the power of thunderstorms, lightning and tornadoes.  "I remember standing outside in the middle of a dust storm and loving it. I also remember being obsessed with lightning."

Horace also says that west Texas is one of the few places where the dust comes to you, the snow takes about a day to melt and golf can be played year round.

You can catch Horace Brown's forecast weeknights at 5 and 10 pm plus you can see how he supports kids in the area with his weekly feature Wednesday's Child.  "For more than 10 years I've had an opportunity help Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Midland find adult mentors for some great kids."

"I'm Horace Brown and, believe it or not, I like a good west Texas dust storm!"
