That moment happened late in the first quarter when Williams took a helmet to the shin. Williams left the game and McAfee took his place without ever missing a beat.
McAfee scored on a 1-yard run with 2:40 to go in the first quarter, and things were just getting started. "After the first touchdown I felt like I could score another one," said McAfee on Monday. "It's not that big of a difference between JV and Varsity, it's just a bigger crowd."
McAfee did score again; twice. A 15-yard touchdown run put Lee up 31-7 with 5:29 to go in the 3rd quarter and McAfee graced the endzone again with 2:22 to go in the 3rd.
"When you have a back like Jason it's kind of easy. You just have to hold your block for a little bit and he'll find the hole to get through," said senior left tackle Xavier Torres, "It's a good feeling knowing he's running behind you, it's a really good feeling."
McAfee ended up with 92 yards on 19 carries in his varsity debut. Asked what he had in store for the rest of the season McAfee sheepishly replied, "If I get in again, hopefully I score three touchdowns every game."
