The oil and gas industry is currently under fire for issues involving endangered species, fracking, drilling near people's homes and more. And now, the Midland Chamber of Commerce has launched a new initiative to give the oil and gas industry a voice to take a stand against legislatures, environmentalists and anyone else they feel is fighting the industry.

The initiative is centered around a new website - http://www.mytownmyjobmyvoice.org. It has two main goals - to educate the public on the far-reaching scope of the oil and gas industry and to provide tools for the public to speak out in support of the industry.

"I think Midlanders and Texans, they understand the oil and gas industry, but they're not even sure how far it goes out into the economy, how much it powers the full economy," says Bobby Burns, Midland Chamber of Commerce president.

Midland Mayor Wes Perry was also at the news conference to declare September 28 "My Town, My Job, My Voice Day" for the city of Midland.

Big 2's Mycah Glover will have more details on the initiative and what local leaders are saying about it in her Energy Report Thursday night at 10pm.
