Color Coded School IDs

By: Dylan Brooks
Updated: October 17, 2011
CALIFORNIA -- A high school discontinued a practice of identifying students according to standardized test scores.

La Palma' Kennedy High School, in Orange County color coded students IDs to correspond to how they scored on standardized tests. This was a practice many parents were unaware existed.

The color coded system identified students with lower scores with white; gold with a higher or middle level score; and black was for those students with advanced scoring in all subject areas.

Students were given IDs and notebooks with the corresponding color of test scores. Students with lower scores were even segregated into separate lunch lines from higher scoring students.
